Johnny Gaudreau, known to many fans as “Johnny Hockey,” has won the 2014 Hobey Baker Award, presented today to the best male college hockey player. A junior, he is the third Eagle to win college hockey’s top award. David Emma was the first Eagle to win the award, in 1991, and Mike Mottau won it in 2000.
Gaudreau, it was also announced today, has signed with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, and will begin NHL play Sunday. He will join teammate and line mate Bill Arnold, who also signed with the Flames.
