More than a dozen BC alumni served as volunteers at Saturday’s annual Morning Glory Brunch for the benefit of St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center, El Cajon. April 13 was BC’s national day of service, the day when alumni, in groups and around the country, aid individuals and organizations.
At St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center, which provides programs and services for developmentally disabled adults, alumni helped out in numerous ways, from blowing up and distributing balloons to handing out morsels from participating restaurants and vendors to selling raffle tickets . . . and more. It was a beautiful setting, with a glorious garden and grounds. The brunch is the main fundraising event for the center and cannot succeed without the aid of volunteers. We were glad to help!

The morning shift of volunteers at Sophie’s Center: (l-r) Jocelyne Campese ’02, Bill McDonald ’68, Julia McDonald x’12, Brian Tsu ’00, Lissa Tsu ’00 (holding Margot), Rebecca Reid ’96, and Phil and Brianne Baxa ’04. Some of these folks worked all day and others joined in the afternoon.

Megan McGuire ’01 arrived midday to help hand out delicious pasta from a local restaurant. At left is Julia.
